Datuk Seri Jebasingam Issace John is the Chief Executive of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament of Malaysia. NCIA is responsible for providing strategic direction to promote and accelerate the socioeconomic development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), an economic development region in northern Peninsular Malaysia, encompassing the four states of Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Penang.
Datuk Seri Issace has led the implementation of bold and robust plans to attract investment and improve well-being of the people in NCER through job creation, elevating household income and creating entrepreneurial opportunities. He is responsible for the implementation of high-impact projects in NCER to address regional imbalances and boost development. He has played a pivotal role in effecting policies that have revolutionised the infrastructural and socioeconomic landscape in the region.
Datuk Seri Issace holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Housing, Building and Planning and a Master of Science in Town Planning from the University of Science, Malaysia (USM). He also has a Master of Science in Development Economics from the University of Wales, Swansea and in 2016, was awarded the Honorary Degree, Doctor of Laws (LLD) by Swansea University.
With more than forty years of experience, Datuk Seri Issace has been involved in key high-level projects, serving both the federal and state governments in Malaysia. These prominent projects include the planning and development of Malaysia’s federal administrative capital, Putrajaya; the conception of the Langkawi Development Plan to thrust Langkawi as a national tourism destination; the development of Kulim Hi-Tech Park, the first integrated modern technology park in the country; and spearheading the socioeconomic transformation of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) for more than ten years.
Datuk Seri Issace has previously served in PETRONAS, Malaysia’s fully integrated petroleum corporation; and was the Chief Executive Officer in East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) until 2017. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors in Putrajaya Holdings, the Master Developer of Putrajaya.
