HE Professor Falleh Al-Solamy is currently Rector and President of King Khalid University (KKU) in Abha, Saudi Arabia, a prestigious position which reflects his distinguished academic career within the Kingdom. King Khalid University has over 10,000 academic and administrative staff and approximately 60,000 students. King Khalid University was recently ranked fourth in overall performance among universities in Saudi Arabia. As part its strategic plan, the university objective is to increase its Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university ranking to the top 200 by 2030.
Prof Al-Solamy received his BSc in mathematics from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (1992) and provided teaching assistance within the Department of Mathematics (1992 - 1994). Prof Al-Solamy went on to obtain a PhD in mathematics (differential geometry) from the University of Wales, Swansea (1998). He was an Assistant Professor within the Department of Mathematics at King Abdulaziz University (1998 – 2005), and an Associate Professor (2005 –2006). Prof Al-Solamy was a Professor within the Department of Mathematics at King Abdulaziz University (2010 - 2016) before leaving to take up his present position.
In addition to his appointment at Swansea University, Prof Al-Solamy has held Visiting Associate Professorships at Jazan University, Jazan, Saudi Arabia, and University of Tabuk, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
